ColorMagic help
Short answers to the questions people ask most about ColorMagic, with a link to the tool for each one.
How do I make a color palette from a name or a few words?
Type the name or the words in the box on the home page and press Generate Color Palette. ColorMagic returns a palette of colors that match the words. A mood plus a place works well, for example "warm autumn market at dusk". Press the button again for a different version of the same idea.
What color is my name?
Type your name on the home page and press Generate Color Palette. You get a palette made from your name, with the HEX and RGB code of each color. The result is a creative match from AI, not a fixed rule.
Is ColorMagic free?
Yes. Every tool on the site is free. The site shows ads to pay for its costs. You do not need an account to make, copy or download a palette.
Can I generate color schemes automatically?
Yes. Describe what the colors are for, and the generator picks colors that work together. To start from one color you must keep, put its hex code in the description.
How do I get a color palette from a photo?
Open Color Palette From Image, then upload the photo or paste a direct image link. Five colors come back with their codes. The colors are read in your browser. The image leaves your device only if you save the palette to your account.
How do I mix two colors online?
Open the Color Mixer, pick two colors and set the ratio. The tool mixes light, the way colors combine on a screen. That is why blue and yellow give grey there, but green in paint. The page also lists the usual paint results.
How do I find the name of a color?
Enter the hex code in the Color Name Finder. It compares your color with 32,521 named colors and shows the closest names first.
How do I save or download a palette?
Under each palette you can copy the colors, the CSS or a gradient, or download the palette as a PNG image. To keep palettes in your account, sign in and press the heart button.
Is there a color palette API?
Yes. The Colors API page shows a free search endpoint that returns palettes as JSON. It has no key. It can change without notice, so do not build anything critical on it.
How do I check that my colors are readable?
Put the text color and the background color in the Color Contrast Checker. Normal text needs a ratio of at least 4.5:1 to meet WCAG AA.
How do I report a problem?
Use the form on the contact page. Say which page you used and what went wrong.
